Vinyl vehicle wraps have proven to be an effective tool in advertising and promoting a brand or product. With a potential audience of 70,000 people per day, extending the life of your vehicle wrap for as long as possible is key. Today, we are going to share several ways to assure that you get the most out of your wrap.
The typical lifespan of a vinyl vehicle graphic solely depends on how well it is taken care of. Taking your wrapped vehicle through a carwash will not be good for you wrap, regardless of the thickness. The brushes can be too tough and too much pressure on the vinyl and can cause lifted corners, chips, and fading. Brushless car washes are an option, however, washing by hand is the safest bet.
Washing your car on a regular basis of the utmost importance when trying to extend the lifespan of your vinyl wrap. Start by rinsing the vehicle with water to spray off as much dirt as you can. Next, use a wet, non-abrasive detergent to scrub the vehicle and remove any excess filth. Rinse off suds and finish by drying with a microfiber cloth. Waxing your wrap with products recommended for leather and plastic car parts can improve durability, and therefore extend your wrap’s lifespan. However, please be sure that these waxes do not contain Carnauba wax (aka Brazil wax or palm wax) because it will not react well with the vinyl.
Keeping your vehicle in an enclosed space or garage when not in use can drastically increase the lifespan of your wrap, resulting in a couple of extra years. The less exposure to the outdoor elements, the better. This promises a lower risk of damages to your wrap, including scratches and fading. If keep your vehicle indoors is not an option, covering it with a tarp is also an effective way to keep your wrap away from the elements.
